Scholarship Award
Proceeds from the Holiday Luncheon and other fundraising events enable the Oshkosh Garden Club to give two $1000 scholarships to qualified local students. The club has sponsored a scholarship since 1983. High school seniors pursuing a career in horticulture, forestry, water management, agriculture, or other fields related to the preservation, beautification, or sustenance of the land are eligible for these awards. Scholarships are renewable for three additional years.
We are pleased to announce Ben Borgardt and Andrew Clark are the recipients of $1000 scholarship awards for 2011-2012. Ben is a 2010 graduate of Oshkosh West High School. He is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls majoring in Agricultural Engineering Technology. Andrew graduated from Oshkosh North High School in 2011 and will begin the wildland firefighting program at Fox Valley Technical College in the fall.
Applicants for a $1000 Oshkosh Garden Club scholarship award should provide a transcript of secondary school grades, ACT or SAT scores, and the following information:
- Name and address of parents or guardian
- Number and ages of dependent children in the family
- Personal statement including extracurricular activities, vocational goals, hobbies, personal ambitions or anticipated problems.
Application materials should be sent to Mrs. Alfred Sedlachek, 2800 Marine Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54901-1004 by April 15.
